摘要:
莫言获诺贝尔文学奖,葛浩文的翻译功不可没。《生死疲劳》中出现的大量习语给译者带来了翻译策略和方法的选择难题。从翻译适应选择论中“三维”转换的角度评析莫言代表作《生死疲劳》葛浩文译本中习语的翻译策略。研究结果显示,葛浩文多选择直译来进行文本中习语的语言维转换; 选择直译和意译进行文化维的转换; 选择重写来进行交际维的转换。译者应当根据具体的翻译目的选择适应翻译生态环境的翻译策略,这是做好习语翻译的重要前提之一。
Abstract:
Howard Goldblatt's translation contributes a lot to Mo Yan's Nobel Prize. The idioms in Life and Death are Wearing Me Out are great challenges for translators. This paper intends to analyze his translation strategies for the idioms in Mo Yan's Life and Death are Wearing Me Out from the perspective of Translation as Adaptation and Selection. The study shows that Howard Goldblatt chooses word-for-word translation for linguistic dimension, word-for-word translation and free translation for cultural dimension, rewriting for communicative dimension. Translators should choose translation strategies which adapt to translational eco-environment according to concrete translation objectives. That is one of the important preconditions for good idiom translation.
