摘要:

老人与海》是海明威小说中的经典之作。对于这部小说研究“硬汉”形象、“冰山”理论的文章比较多, 但对小说中信 仰文化的研究却相对较少。小说中老人的生存正是建立在自身独有的信仰体系之上。宗教信仰使老人能够乐观地对待生命的磨 难; 人生信仰使老人能够坦然地面对“生”与“死”这一矛盾的人生理念; 自然信仰使老人能够在自身发展与自然限制这一矛盾 中寻找到平衡点。《老人与海》中所体现的思想意蕴对当今人们自身发展的价值观选择具有一定的启示意义。

Abstract:

The Old Man and the Sea is the classical nov el by Hemingw ay , to w hich research has been mainly fo cused on “iro n man ”feature and “iceberg ”theory . However, ther e has been relat ively litt le co nducted on the cul tural belief in the story . T he old man in the stor y r est s on his ow n unique belief sy stem, w hich enables him to liv e throug h hardships and tortur es f rom life. Belief in relig ion generates optimism and posit ive future ex pectat ion; belief in life helps him to co nf ront the contr odictor y existence of “death”and “l ife”; belief in nature, makes the old man f ind a g ood balance point between his living and rest rict ions o f nature. T he belief s incar nated in this story certainly have meaning to current v alue select ions of self- dev elo pment .
