摘要:
20 世纪早期英国女性作家在文坛上的地位已不可小觑, 同时也令父权制度下的男性作家深感不安。在短篇小说《灵机一 动》中, 主人公福雷斯特夫人是专职作家, 表面上她具有“男性气质”、创作多产且赞誉不断, 实际上她被作者列为“次等”文 人, 她视丈夫为仆人与宠物, 却最终被其抛弃。作家毛姆对此类女性形象含蓄、歪曲的刻画和嘲弄讥讽体现出他对女性、特别是 当时的女性作家的反感态度, 从而再次证明毛姆反女性的性别取向。
Abstract:
It was undeniable that the status of female writers in the literary world in Britain in the early 20th cen tu ry. M eanw h ile men of let ters experienced challenge and danger f rom the rising statu s of female coun terpart s. In“The Creat ive Impu lse”, M rs. Fo rrester is a p rofessional w riter w ith mascu line visual percep t ion. She is virtually“inferio r”though p ro lif ic and comp limen ted, and deserted f inally becau se the hu sband is her subm issive bu t ler and pet. In a pat riarchy, women, especially women w riters are therefo re condemned, desp ised and mocked by such a male w riter as M augham w ith h is m isogyn ist ou t look on gender, man ifest ingM augham’s an t i- women’s sexual o rien tat ion.
