摘要:

哈代在《德伯家的苔丝》中成功地塑造了女主角苔丝的形象, 描写了贫家女儿外出谋生, 失足泥淖遗恨千古的故事。苔 丝出污泥而弥洁, 有其不朽的美学价值及悲剧研究价值。尝试用亚里士多德的悲剧理论来分析苔丝悲剧, 从其生存的社会环境与 其性格错综复杂的矛盾冲突等方面进行剖析, 通过对其悲剧命运具体分析, 读者能更理性、系统地赏读这部作品, 从而加深了作 品所表达的悲剧效果和艺术感染力。

Abstract:

In the sto ry of Tess of the D’u rbervilles, Thomas Hardy had created a faithfu l bu t t ragic- fated f igu re——Tess, w ho w en t ou t to make a living fo r the poo r fam ily bu t unfo rtunately seduced by an evil man and thu s suffered f rom t remendou s m iseries in her later life. Ow ing to the con siderab le pub licity and popu larity, many peop le have done researches and studies concern ing th is sto ry in all aspect s; f rom the viewpo in t of A risto t le’s theo ries of t ragedy, Tess’ t ragedy is deep ly roo ted in the con t radict ion betw een the social system and her ow n characters. Th rough the analysis of her t ragic dest iny, readers can app reciate the novelmo re rat ionally and systemat ically and w ill be imp ressed by it s t ragic effect and art ist ic appeal.
