2019年7月21日,美国漫威影业宣布将把漫威电影史上首位“中国超级英雄”“尚气”的故事搬上大银幕,因为原作中“尚气”的父亲“傅满洲”是20世纪初期著名的“黄祸”形象,漫威此番因为“辱华”之嫌在中国引起了激烈的讨论。“傅满洲”是19世纪末“黄祸论”在西方世界甚嚣尘上之时诞生于英国作家萨克斯·罗默笔下的经典“中国恶人”形象,20世纪中后期在美国影视化之后同样大受欢迎。“尚气”作为战后环境下诞生的“傅满洲”之子,却因为迎合西方世界的意识形态和价值观而成为与其父完全不同的“模范亚裔”。21世纪的西方世界多次试图塑造华人影像、讲述中国故事,却时时陷入“扭曲”的困境之中,透露出了萨义德所提出的“东方主义”困境,即用“想象的东方”去替代“真实的东方”,当代西方创作者的跨文化叙事仍存在层次过浅、随意拼贴、刻板印象等问题。当代东西方跨文化碰撞需要承认差异的存在,在自我反思的过程中对“他者”保持好奇与尊重,文化的交流才得以可能。
Abstract:
On July 21, 2019, Marvel Studios announced that the story of Shang-Chi would be brought to the movie screen, who is the first “Chinese superhero” in the history of Marvel movie production. In the original comics, Shang-Chi's father, Dr. Fu Manchu, was a famous image of “Yellow Peril” in the early 20th century, so this proposal of Marvel is considered as an insult to China, which causes heated discussion in China. Dr. Fu Manchu was the classic “Chinese devil” image created by the British writer Sax Rohmer at the end of the 19th century when the “Yellow Peril” was popular in the western world, which was equally welcomed after the filming in the United States in the middle and late 20th century. As the son of Dr. Fu Manchu and born in the post-war environment, Shang-Chi is treated quite differently from his father because he caters for the ideology and values of the western world, who is known as “a model Asian”. In the 21st century, the west has repeatedly tried to construct Chinese images and tell Chinese stories, however, it has always been caught in the “distorted” predicament, revealing the “Orientalism” dilemma proposed by Said, that is, replacing the “real Oriental” with the “imaginary Oriental”. The cross-cultural narratives of western creators still have problems such as shallow levels, random collages and stereotypes. In the contemporary cross-cultural collision between the east and the west, it is necessary to acknowledge the existence of differences and maintain curiosity and respect for “the Other” in the process of self-reflection so as to make cultural exchanges possible.
